Trata-se de uma separata factícia desta parte incluída no 3º volume da famosa compilação seiscentista de viagens feita pelos editores Awnscham & Churchill. Estas "memórias" do almirante e político inglês Sir William Monson, são particularmente interessantes para nós pois nelas aquele cabo de guerra descreve diversos "incidentes" que teve com a marinha portuguesa tais como o apresamento que fez da carraca " Madre de Deus", a sua captura ao largo das Berlengas seguida da prisão em Lisboas, e da derrota que infligiu á esquadra Portuguesa e Espanhola ao largo de Sesimbra em 1602. Grande parte da vida aventurosa de Monson decorreu durante o período de guerras filipinas entre Espanha e Inglaterra.
